I agree. Redwood holds up very well in this area. If I have to look at it day in and day out, I don't think I want a little aluminum kit.

I had one when I lived in Ventura, CA. Very sturdy, so it is rather involved to assemble. Depending on the wind in your area, you might want to mount it on a footing of concrete that you can anchor it to. Also depending on the wind, you might want to put a safety chain on the vents so the wind doesn't tear them off.

Thanks...they have a modular option. Their footing recommendations anchor it to the ground. The chain is a great idea. I just really like the looks of it...and have be lusting after one for a while.

Hey K, Have you ever looked at the Cedar-Built GH? I do not own one, but they always looked like one I wish I could get and they are highly customizable. I'm sure the cedar looks great just like the redwood :o) Dan

I did look at these, but didn't think they looked as well constructed. Contractor could customize.

If I ever am allowed to get a GH I will look closely at the SB ones as well - I think the wood looks great compared to the metal, same as you. I look forward to pics of yours once it is up :o) Dan

I am considering this as the redwood holds up to the humid conditions on the Gulf Coast. If this is how I go, I see the other has having a second life in the shade as a butterfly habitat!
