Very nice choices, Phil. I have some Noble Concubine seedlings that are about 4 or 5 weeks old. I also have some Zaftig Moon seeds I haven't sown yet. Ko's site has some details about parentage that may answer some of your questions about seeds coming true to parent. His site could use a redesign since the navigation is not very helpful, but if you take the time to click through the pages on his site you will gather lots of tidbits of information. He even shows you how to hand pollinate your plants.

I believe what he is calling "red lining" is referring to a star shaped flower that has a 20% chance. The "white petal red curving" is going to be your Big Chubbiness flower. It says 95%.

Since you are getting a number of varieties you could go with 15 seeds of each. Just remember that only 7 to 8 out of 15 are going to germinate. You will not have any trouble flowering them if they are under your Mars-Hydro.

Phil I am starting to doubt myself, I can't find the source for the Picotee germination rate. I looked around Ko's site and don't see it there. Where in the heck did I pull that number?

Everything on Mr. Ko's site states between 75% and 95% germination rates. I will have to continue looking for the source of this info I gave you.

Not heard from ko but rinoa sent me a message back stating that she hand pollinated her plants so chances of normal pink colour is lower.

There is a 30%-80% chance of getting a multi petal variety. Does she mean a double flower by multi petal?

As mentioned above I think, solid colours are MUCH more stable, like white, red and white with red border..

So my understanding is that with the picotee flowers for example I mention above, I have a VERY good chance that I will get one that comes true out of say a pack of 20/30 seeds? Am I thinking right here?

Phil, she would mean a by multi petaled, just what are thinking. Dbl's, Triples, etc.

There definitely are more stable colors which they use for cross pollination and better %'s can be hoped for.

I do not mean to be a pessimist, but our percentages are based on a larger scale not the package of 15-20 seeds we purchase. I am sure you are aware, Phil.

I stopped hoping for a tree resembling either parent bloom/tree, because the number of seeds we grow are nothing in comparison to the breeders of Adeniums for new blooms.

If I get something special, then this is wonderful. Easier than getting my hopes up.

I do not mean to be negative and the stability is becoming and is way better than when I first started growing them from seed. The Australians I use as a base, because they cannot order in Trees. Everything they have is produced there. They are getting some wonderful blooms and caudex's. They are the ones that I like to follow for this reason.. Ko and Rinoa are well respected for good results.

Look at the tree that Pagan has produced with seeds that I sent. Out of a batch of small pack of seeds, three or four of us grew them and Pagan has a really super tree from it. Makes me thankful and glad to see this.

Your abilities are fine, Phil and you will get some great tree from it.

Cheers buddy, I see myself as someone with my 'L' plates still on with Adeniums but I am learning pretty fast with such helpful people in this forum so like you previously mentioned if I get a true seed it's a bonus rather than a necessity lol

Just found this site - anyone experience with them - would they be another worth adding to the reputable sources list for seeds aswell as the others mentioned in other threads?

I have heard good things about this seller, Phil. The only drawback is Minimum order for plants is $300. The minimum order for seed is $100. If you have piles of dough laying around, this is not a problem. ;)

Phil I think I was off base about picotee germination rates. I can't find the source so please scratch that from the record. Ellen from Wild Bill Botanicals charges more for picotee flowered plants based upon the notion that they are harder to germinate or have lower rates. I cannot find a reputable source backing this information.

I think if you go with Mr. Ko's seed you will be pleasantly surprised. 30 seed should be more than plenty.

ah thanks tracy - Siam must be geared more towards people selling seed on, didn't see the $100 minimum order bit, I too don't have pots of cash to spare sadly :(

I've been in touch wit Mr Ko again, he did send me an email but a bit of what I sent hm must have got lost in translation - anyway he now has a list of what seeds I am after, just waiting for him to send me an invoice, but its been a couple of days or more now since I sent the list, so will see if anything comes of it?

I am terrible and when I send a note off to any of these people. I am expecting a response right away. Sometimes I am impatient with these things, I guess. Of course, I always forget that I am not the only person that they are dealing with. Go figure, yeh.

I think Mr Ko must be one of the popular suppliers and am sure will be mega busy with people worldwide so I guess he will sort me out when he can so for now I will keep perving on my little collection here to keep the fires burning ;)

My seed selection from Rinoa was posted today so look forward to getting those and popping them in the tent :)

Also contacted UK customs people to see if I am allowed to import adenium from rinoa, so wait to see what they say, if I get the green light I might just get a couple to try?

Had message from Adenium centre saying that 20-30% chance that the picotee seeds will come true in case anyone else wondered?

Random time if I may - can I treat the following seeds like I would if I was to sow adenium seeds minus the soaking for a couple of hours before hand - dorstenia gigas, adenia glauca and Cyphostemma juttae? I have killed to young dorstenia in the past and really wanna have success with it :)
