Really struggling with this! Would take down deck and replace with a patio. Step down from house is about 30 in. Thinking concrete pavers or clay brick pavers, dry-laid (color?), and have seriously looked at Belgard Dublin pavers as an option. Patio to extend at least to the wings of the house, probably further. The deck currently extends 30 ft at its deepest. As an alternative to replacing this entire space with pavers, maybe some landscaping, fire pit or fireplace.

The length of back of house is 31.5 ft and the wings are about 16 ft, longer on the left by a foot. The roofline is shorter on the left. I want a covered area. Have considered a shed roof with space of about 4 to 5 ft on either side and covering to the end of the wings. Have considered a gable roof over same area but it would be very high according to estimate. Another possibility is covering just the right side of the patio where rooflines are the same (16x16 ft area) and leaving the sliding doors and windows free of covering. However, this is a hot climate and the exposure would be south and west. The real goal is to create an intimate covered area free of the sun and elements.
