Jedoba, I am not sure of the legitimate age, but there is literature in Mark D.'s book which shows a seedling being used as grafting scion.

I cannot be sure of my seedlings ages when I did some grafting, but they where less than 10mths.

I had a Swazicum seedling which had damage at the soil line and I did not want to lose it. I used it (Swazicum) as the scion and did a cleft graft onto an Arabicum root stock.

Then took the top piece of Arabicum I had cut of rootstock and used a piece as the scion (flat graft) onto an obesum rootstock.

They both took and have done more since with other stock. Quite a lot of fun.

Swazicum onto Arabicum is not the best choice as the Swazicum is a lot more aggressive grower, but it was an opportunity to start trying some grafting trials.
