I have always kept my seeds (Adenium and other) in the fridge inside a ziplock bag and then inside a Tupperware plastic sealed container in crisper.

Viability has not been effected, at least not noticeably so.

Kukuan was/is going to send me more Golden Bell seeds. May not keep these for sale as with everyone here and possibly others she feels that it is not worth any further issues.

I am guessing vendors are actively lurking around this very active adenium forum and are sensitive to any/all remarks. This is our forum and we certainly have the right to voice our opinions. So far I have not heard any negative remarks about any named vendors we have discussed...only praises of reliability and trustworthiness.

Looking at Kukuan's catalog, I am sorely tempted to order flower seeds from her...there are some gorgeous beauties I would like to acquire.

Rick how did your germination turn out? It sounded promising the last time I saw you post. Did the bumps in the media not ever make it through?

I also agree that this isn't a reflection upon Kukuan. She has immediately tried to remedy any issues that came up. I am glad that she will stop selling them since there is possibly something impacting viability. That for me is enough to continue buying from her in the future.

My Tiny Ding Dong (arabicum) idea isn't sound so hilarious any more does it? LOL Sorry I couldn't help myself.

I got a surprise today. One of my golden bellseeds has popped up. Planted 10/05. The first and heretofore only other seedling still looks like a paperclip. They have been out on the picnic table for a couple of weeks, Zone 9b. 80s during the day and 60s at night last couple of weeks. my Flame seedlings planted 10/03, continue to progress slowly. I have about 60% germination. Those started in paper towels are doing the best. I'll take photos tomorrow.

That's awesome Cynthia, what an unexpected suprise. I am curious to see if the newly sent seeds are from the same batch as the ones that some of us had germination issues with. I haven't planted my new ones yet. I have much to do this weekend before any more seeds are sown.

My first batch of GB seeds looked to be more promising than I had thought. Kukuan is sending more. She has it pin pointed to which seed pod had issues.

I have been getting seeds from Kukuan since 2009 and had always had 90% and better germination. She is so wonderful.

I do really like the look of the Golden Bell mature trees that I have seen.

Ko has tiny ding dong variety. I ordered some in 2013 they are doing well. I had good luck with Adenium center never an issue. All of her seeds have sprouted and are from 2013. The fresh ones sprouted no problem

I had one come up that is really light green, perhaps even yellow. The others didn't look like this when they came up.

It will be something special if it stays this color.

Here are my two golden bell seedlings, started 10/05 in paper towels. The paperclip is the first to sprout and was transferred to soil. ,the second popped up yesterday in the soil..

@Christine.Are you using grow lights? Or is it natural? Mine were sowed on 23/9 & are at their 2nd set of true leaves only. Have you fertilized them yet?

I sowed my Golden Bells tonight. Looking forward to great results. Also an update on my Thai Soco seeds that I purchased from Dino. I have successfully germinated a tray of them in the tent. Once they are all up I will share a photograph.

Well folks, I think I'm well and truly out of the grow out! My seeds went in on 8th Oct and have yet to do anything other than just sit there. That's not to say they have rotted, they still appear firm and white, but just won't grow for some reason. I've managed to up the temp in the heated propagator, but still nothing, zilch, zero, nil point, diddly squat or whatever!! I'll keep them there for a while longer......just in case, but I don't hold much hope now. These are the first seeds that have failed me : / oh well, not to worry eh?

Grew this from a seed I got from another plant I have. It will be 4 years old this Feb.

Just some motivation. I like mine bigger. 20 inch pot and it stands exactally as tall as I from the ground. 5 foot ten. If you push them hard with great light and lots of fert, they will grow fast in the first two or three years. Over time it will fill out and widen out. Its mom or dad I have had for 18 years and its 24 years old and still growing well. Keep it well lit and let the soil dry out alot between watering. During winter I might water once a month at most. In summer I just put it outside and let mother nature take over. I grew this one in a grow tent under lots of light on for 18 hrs a day for the first three years putting outside in summer and in tent in winter. Im in zone 6 in the U.S.

Gill - that's a bummer. Only saving grace is that several others have had issues too, so maybe the seed batch was not the best, but hey, I guess it happens at times, but it frustrates the hell out of us all too lol

Maybe come spring time we could all participate in another group grow out too, at least we have several months to decide what everyone wants to go for, or maybe there will be something totally new by then, who knows, buy I am up for it if everyone else fancies it. I will even order all the seed for the guys in the UK, and Martin (If he wants in) and send it out myself if that makes it easier for anyone?

Gill, I had much the same issues with mine. Had 4 out of 12 germinate.

I did contact Adeniumcenter and there had been an issue with a batch of this seed from a particular seed pod. She is sending another pack to me.

This is the nice thing about Kukuan. She does not have a problem being honest about situations and will always do her best to make good. have always had such a good repor with her.

Abraham, gosh, your plants are certainly tall then by the sounds of things! Good job you mentioned its true scale as I would never have thought that it was so big, despite seeing the fence next to it. I doubt that for those of us who have such short growing seasons we could never in our wildest dreams achieve anything approaching that...sadly. My largest three plants still have some way to go yet as I'm 6ft, lol.

Phil, yes that would be a great idea, let's bear that in mind for next spring eh? I certainly hope I'm still motivated enough to want to try again.

Cynthia, Rick, yes, a big failure :/ The seeds seemed fine when they arrived, big and plump, they were off an eBay UK seller who imports them from the Far East, but who they were from originally I don't know. There was however a disclaimer, worded in the usual way, so I don't think it's even worth the hassle of contacting them... they were the only ones selling the golden bells at the time, or so it seemed when I searched. Lesson learnt.

I see what you mean about slightly smoothed, one of them broke in half while soaking so I place the halves together the best I could and speedboat anyways. Who knows, maybe I'll get a half tree to grow, or even 2 from one. :)

The remainder plumped up pretty well and are nice and warm in their new home.

Cynthia, I have received the new seeds and can forward them. However, I did not retain your address, as I didn't think I would need it again. Can you please send it to me in a private message? I will send this standard mail as I figured out what to use: digital memory card plastic cases. They're small, thin, and rigid. I came home to discover a bump in the media of my golden bells! I had to check to make sure my eyes weren't fooling me. There is definitely one seedling under there that is about to come up! One of the broken seeds appears to have rotted and I tossed it. I hope to see one or two more creep up but if it is only one then I will be a happy girl. I knew planting them on Halloween was the best idea LOL. I won't call it germinated until it has poked its head through.

The seedling poked through the media today but half of the seed had turned white/rotted inside the testa and so the one and only is a headless creature LOL. There is still a single seed in there, I will give it a few days.

Nice updates everyone! Got my replacement seeds too from Kukuan yesterday... I'll try to germinate some again today and get some pics of the duo that made it from my first batch of 12 seeds...

Aww that's too bad about your new little one Tracy... I've experienced the same thing before with my other seeds that's why I always remove the coating now asap whenever I see the little ones starting to wake up...

@Sinha, sorry haven't been on for a while so only just saw your question. Mine are growing in full sun all day. End of spring here and nice and hot and humid which they are loving. Yes, I have fertilised them a few times and they are happy little chappys. I'm in week 7 now and can see more of them branching out.

i might save my seeds until I get home after Thanksgiving away. At my sons in cold GA.

Part of the problem with my last seeds, was that I had an unintended vacation, in the hospital, while they were germinating. Then another planned long weekend away. So I want to be here the whole time. I'll start them when I get home.

It has been 90 degrees here everyday for a week. And no rain for 3 weeks. That might change over the weekend.

Then the squirrels, or someone else, knocked over and damaged some of my seedlings. They were a mess this morning. I hope I saved them all. One needed major surgery and cinnamon, and is set out to dry.

My GBs were a bust. If nobody has an issue I will just use some Thai Soco PBN seeds. The Golden Bells were just not meant to be for me.
