"Recommended" has to do with the type of floor that has been laid, the height of the base boards, what is "appropriate" for the size of the space/room/home, etc. Personal taste also comes into it. The word "recommended" would indicate building norms. Trim doesn't always have a norm. Your question should read: "Recommended for me, my flooring, my budget and the size of my house/rooms".
