This is another method I found that works here. The phal is in the clear pot it came in, but is sat inside a tapered glass vase so the pot is suspended. I water the plant and let a little sit in the bottom of the vase for humidity. You can see some roots have grown down and serve as wicks. I pour out the exess if it overfills at watering time.

I've written recently of a bit more success with them by just upping the heating in this room.

I've decided that they are easy provided you keep them warm enough to be happy.

So what sort of temps are you providing in winter?

My Phals spent last summer there down near the floor so they wouldn't get sunburnt. Watered with the hose, they grew gang busters.

I think most of "my Phals are dieing posts" are due to cold and damp conditions.
