How about a chair with a reading lamp behind it to create a reading nook?

I could see a few different options for this space.

• A built in bench/window seat with a custom cushion on top. You could have it built so that books could be placed below. An Ikea expedit bookcase turned on its side can work well for this.

• A settee or armless loveseat.

• A bookcase along the length with an armchair in the corner in front of the bookcase.

• A study space if you have kids or desk area for an adult.

• Depending on the depth you could do something like in the last photo which could then double as a sleeping space in a pinch. Plus you could have drawers for extra storage of linens, etc.

Add something decorative on the high wall - a nice piece of framed art, sculptural art or a wall candleholder (I don't see that you have an outlet there but if you do a low pharmacy style reading lamp would be good, something that doesn't go higher than the half wall). A patterned rug in front of the settee, etc. to define the space could make it even more cozy.
