I originally planted a MayPop and a Passiflora caerulea vine for my butterfly garden.

While I have removed my Maypop vine because it was a constant trim, trim, trim to try and keep it small enough for my small garden, I had also purchased what I believed to be a Passiflora caerulea, that has a smaller five lobed leaf and seems to be a little more restrained in it's growth habits.

I planted it originally on a fence and it grew right into my Butterfly bush, which grows next to this section of fence. So I attempted to remove it when I took up the Maypop vine. Well, I think it grew this year from from an underground shoot, up the fence and over onto my greenhouse. I think this is the same Passiflora caerulea vine and not something the birds have planted for me. However, to my knowledge, it has not bloomed this year so not certain. I AM certain it is not a Maypop vine.

If someone grows this variety of passi, could you tell me if I should cut it back for the winter or does it die back with a hard freeze? Also, is it unusual for it to not bloom during a season?
