Lucky bamboo taking long time to root

Hi all,

I just purchased some lucky bamboo about 2 weeks ago and discovered that I had a batch with root rot. I cut off the bottom part of the stalk above the node, dipped it in rooting hormone, and let it dry overnight. Then I placed the bamboo in water.

It has been two weeks and so far, nothing. Am I doing something wrong, or does lucky bamboo take an excruciatingly long time to root? I thought by 2-3 weeks I would see something.

For what it's worth, the leaves and stalks still look perfectly fine, even though there are no roots.
