Well I am not going to argue the idea. I just want to make sure we are the same page about a couple things. Your closet is like at least 8 feet wide? and you don't have as much to hang? Cause I got a zillion dresses so it would never work.

Finally, are you doing it for design aesthetic? Because I fail to see the dif in look, and don't think anyone will really notice the difference in the legs. What I noticed is the price tag. I would do it, because it cost less not more. Also, why are you stopping there? Especially since you are willing to pay so much? If you are talking about eliminating your doors or part of your doors, which I am sure you can do, i would have it made if necessary and have 0 wasted space.

@having fun: Thanks for input. I can tell I was not clear enough in my original posting - off to edit it now. I can see peeps are going to focus on the cost of the items in the links I posted. Those were just meant as visuals... we can get base cabinets much cheaper than the ones originally pictured. The objective is to increase storage space by using drawers that utilize the entire depth of closet. And I'm a skirt gal, so no dresses to worry about! :) Thanks again!

Well then your idea is excellent. that is why I put the quandries in there, i hope others go with what you said. I did convert a small bedroom in one house we did not need to use, the wire shelves that let you hang from edge too? got about $200 for $15 from a closed company. Used those with the the folding hanger shelves, those acted as our drawers, very reasonable, held lots whole project room full of clothes, bags and things from drawers $75>.

oh yes, don't forget about, can you get those cabinets an inch or two deeper? does not sound like much, but could be the diff between folding in half or thirds

@havingfun - ty again. Good point on deep drawers. Will have to think it all out for sure. WOW - did you use an entire bedroom as a dressing room? Lucky you! And a bargain shopper too! I really like you - I LOVE bargains! :)

I used this idea with a dresser inside my daughters' closet when they were small, and I was able to hang their little dresses on a rod the usual height in the closet. I also was able to store their shoes and slippers on top of the dresser and their underwear and pajamas in the dresser drawers.
