very loose guess Diffenbachia?

ok thank you for the guess....I have no clue..since this Pic I replanted it in soil..still nothing ....it doesnt seem to be diying but nothing else is happening.....Have another quite like this one still in water just thicker almost same height also no roots etc also stll apparently alive.....wish something would happen......its been over a month already

Not sure if it matters ( it very much matters with Sansevieria) which way is up?

Sansevieria will not root if you reverse the polarity of the cutting, The part closest to the ground before cutting needs to be the part that goes in the ground.

As for time, as long as it stays firm and green there is still hope. I currently have a Aglonema cutting that I've been trying to root for 9 months already. It is still alive and looks just about the same but no roots yet.

Fred, I have started cleaning the bottom of the Sans with iodine, I'm hoping this will help keep out fungals as well as reminding me which part to put in the dirt.

I never thought of doing that, let me know how well it works.

Well after about 3 months in water still dont know what it is.....However for some reason FINALLY seeing a root BUT also its growing 2 sprouts from the bottom near the root not from the top as expected

If you look carefully you will see leaf (sprout) growing on right...you might be able to see small sprout on left.

Im thinking just to let it grow out then eventually cut off top part of stalk and try to root what remains............Any thoughts ????

Very nice, I'm glad it is starting to grow. I wonder if the end in the water was originally the part at the top? It will be interesting to see what develops. So please continue with the updates!

THANKS I thought of that also but am pretty sure I was careful when I removed it from original planter.

I had forgotten to mention that there was a 2nd smaller stalk also removed from planter. Its maybe aprox 4" tall..This one I transplanted into soil I dug it out yesterday to check. ITS GOT 4 roots now!!

But no other growth after abt 3 months

note you have a shoot on the top portion now! I'm still thinkg Dieffenbachia. Are you going to put this is soil soon?

Not sure if Im understanding correctly. At the bottom of this stalk it started to grow roots then as you can see shoots are comming out. Ubove all this is aprox 6" or so of just stalk. Would u think that after I have let it grow for a while maybe I should cut ofh some of the top stalk and try to root that?

and I still have thls unknown stalk in soil (originally in water) had since August..trdnsplanted to soil in Sepy.

It has begun to develope a root system but so far no shoots

Good question, might not be a bad Idea to let it develop more before any actions. I am very curious to see what happens. Are you in a warm climate?

on Oct 28 cut off shoot on right from stalk on left Kept them in wated until replanting both in soil Nov 4 The bud on stalk has grown all the brighter green since initial cut

and of course back to this poor thing whaterver it is while it has grown roots....still nothing else is happening since aquiring back in Aug
