Show us the whole plant please

You must excise all of the mushy black. I recommend doing it by hand if possible. I've only had small areas of rot, but I've basically just scraped and allowed them to dry. How much of the plant is soft?

Wow I can't believe that the leaves aren't turning yellow and falling off. Kerryblue how did you even know it was rotting?

Jed has given great advice, get rid of the rot and let it dry. If you cut it you have to sterilize before every cut. So if you don't get enough the first time, you sterilize again before cutting. You have to cut back to good tissue otherwise it will continue to spread. I hope you are able to save it, such a nice little tree.

I already cut the rotting part with exacto knife. I was told to use cinnamon for anti bacterial. I went ahead and used it.

@ addict2plants I was staring at it and saw wrinkling by the base. I then took it out the pot and saw all the rot. I will post how it looks now

What kind of mix was it growing in? Did you water it a lot? Hope ypu can save it, good luck.

Good luck, kerryblue. I feel your pain. I had one earlier with root rot. I did as the others suggested, and it is coming back nicely. Lots of new growth. It really was painful to keep cutting.

If you got all the rot off it will survive. Make sure your soil is very AIRY. Adeniums tolerate tons of water if the soil is very airy so the roots get air around them. AdeniumRose company grow thousands of adeniums 100% outside (NO COVER what-so-ever) - inches of rain every week with less than 3% loss. Airy soil is the key!

Growstone maybe worth looking into to create more aeration in your pots, and maybe use at a ratio of 50-50 or maybe 60-40/70-30, the larger number representing grow stone, lower number representing you medium. Just a thought.
