Species, Rupicola Cha Simba. These are the first blossoms on this very young plant. It is growing a sucker so it will be multi-crown. To my knowledge, suckers are not removed from Species.
Very nice! Species as rupicola, grotei, and others are naturally multi crowned & are usually grown that way. Ionantha, tongwensis, and diplotricha are among those that look best as a single crown and it is fine to remove suckers. I find most of these tend to grow as single crown plants anyway.
Thank you for the information. Now that you mention it, I see the difference between Rupicola and Tonwensis. The natural shape of the plants is different.

Thanks. That is what the DH said. Rupicola is large but proportioned. Large blossoms held well above the large foliage. Well worth growing. Such a delicate beauty in a size that is easily seen well across the room.
