Hoya Exchange

last modified: 11 years ago

Hello,

I have been reading this forum for a while and I finally decided to register.

I would like to exchange some hoya cuttings with other members. I have a small collection of hoyas that is constantly growing, most plants are still young, but I could make a few cuttings out of the more grown plants. Here's what I can offer:

Hoya Carnosa (plain) (cuttings)

Hoya Krimson Princess (cuttings)

Hoya Krimson Queen (cuttings)

Hoya Nummularioides (cuttings)

Hoya Chelsea (cuttings)

Hoya Davidcummingii (cuttings)

Hoya Andalensis (cuttings)

Hoya Indian Rope (cuttings)

Hoya Curtissii (cuttings or rooted plants)

Hoya Kentiana or Wayetii (not sure which one I have) (cuttings)

non-hoyas: African violets and rooted small calanchoe Mother of Thousands plants (succulents).

I would really be grateful if someone offered to trade hoya cuttings that I don't currently have. Please contact me and let me know which hoyas you'd like to trade. I am particularly interested in rare varieties, such as Hoya Patella (In the past, I had purchased h. patella from Asia, but they all died shortly, so I hope to re-start this beauty). I will be able to trade more varieties next spring or summer.

Thanks!

Tawnygrisette, thank you for responding. I am so excited about this exchange!

I am interested in some of your hoyas (in the order of preference):

    1) H. cv. Mathilde; 2) H. purpureofusca; 3) H. macrophylla variegata (you talked me into it!); 4) H. obovata/splash (my small obovata from Gardinos has not grown at all. I'd like to give it another chance).

    H. Andalensis is a great hoya! It is one of the easiest growing hoyas I have tried. This hoya is so easy growing, it's hard to kill. I will never stop growing this one.

I already have H. limoniaca (still small). H. holiana reminds me of Krimson Queen (I have a lot of these), or H. exotica. It's a great hoya, and I have a jungle of it.

My H. Krohniana Eskimo from Aleyagarden died on me. It reminded me of H. curtissii that I have. I like H. curtissii a lot because it has grown so well. H. curtissii is an easy growing plant, it is best to propagate it by laying it flat on moist soil. I also ordered sheperdii from Aleys, I am not sure if this cutting is alive or dead- it just sits in soil and has not put any growth. Sheperdii looks somewhat similar to my hoya kentiana/wayetii (not sure which one EA plant I have).

I have a lot of Curtissii (it's such a pretty hoya!), and can dig up the rooted plants for you!

    H. Kerrii - I got one from Gardinos nursery and one from another ebayer - they just sit in the pot and don't grow at all! I don't know what the deal is. The one from Gardino is very nice- it's a variegated one, but it just sits there in the pot with 4 leaves and not growing. I moved it into my mini greenhouse, hoping that it will start growing after 4-6 months of hibernation.

    H. obovata - I purchased it from Gardinos, but it also doesn't grow. I bought it appr. 4-6 months ago and it hasn't grown at all. I hope your obovata is not as slow growing as the one I have now. It is such a pretty plant, I would give it another chance.

I will send you a private message too.

Great! I will hook you up. I just joined the site too so I'm not really familiar with how it works yet (no idea how to check PM's so my burner email is if I don't respond in a timely fashion.) Yay for Hoyas!

Sorry to hear you had to part with your plants, jeci1974. I might be able to get you some kerrii, and I'll go check and see what else I have that might be ready for a new home. Your wayetti sounds amazing, post pics if you are able!

i have no idea how to post a photo ,i am just learning to use my computer, hawaiian sunset vine is related to morning glories, but it is not a morning glory, the vine is a fast grower, but also sublect to aphids, had to treat it right after it arrived,it is now aphid free,i just brought it in for the winter,it will go semi dormant, cannot get cuttings until march, our springtime.isis know as stictocardia beraviensis, the only bloom i saw was in july, only one ,the grasshoppers chewed it good,i loved the color bright pink with orange in the center.like i said cannot get cuttings until march i will come here and post when i get some rooted.the 3 kind people who are sending me hoya cuttings/plants will get first dibs on the cuttings.but i will root as many as i can.
