I don't know enough about them. It looks like it doesn't know it's time to sleep. You might find an answer on the Amaryllis forum.

Sleep/dormancy isn't truly necessary. As long as the plant wants to keep growing, let it.

dbarron is right. Sandyslopes too. Even if you winter it, small bulbs will survive. Some amaryllis sp. produce a lot of small bulds each year, some dont. I have a lot of them. I create a new color mixing pink (my pic) x orange one having a different shape. The new color is peach.

If you want to multiply it, next spring, put small ones in their own pot and grow them in the winter too to grow them faster. The big one seem ready to sleep.

Funny thing with this one was, It didn't bloom when I started growing in the winter. it put out about five large leaves and then stopped growing completely. I got it for a Christmas present and it was my very first amaryllis. When it didn't bloom I read about what I would have to do to get it to bloom the second time around. I placed it outside this summer and tended to it very carefully and it ended up growing again and putting out six more large leaves along with all of those side sprouts!!! Before this it hadn't put out any leaves in three months. I'm pretty sure it saved up enough energy to be able to bloom this winter. I'm only hibernating it because that's what me research has said to do.

i think you are right. After the 1srt bloom, the plant was enable to bloom again without a good period of light and water. The size of the buld is the most valuable clue to détermine if it will bloom. Hibernating it, gives the opportunity to choose the time of bloom between Christmas and spring. If you wake it early in the winter, you need to have good Windows to provide light untill spring. If you dont have thoses windows, wait later so you can put them outside earlier to recharge the bulb. I wake my amaryllis only a few at a time.
