They will certainly break stuff down pretty fast. It depends on what you are looking to do. BSFL are often found in redworm compost piles, and they like to be first responders to a big influx of food. They'll do that and the worms will move in second to clean up after.

However, BSFL are also an indicator of too much food in your bin. A pocket of BSFL or two is not necessarily a bad thing (although I will tell you that unlike many, I'm not a fan of BSFL at all), but a lot of them showing up to the party means that your bin is becoming inhospitable to the worms, because there's too much food. BSFL love that acid-y environment that they create for themselves, but it will literally kill composting worms. In small doses, worms can avoid it, but if the bin is primarily BSFL, it's a signal that things are not going well for the worms.
