Is there a reason for just looking for something which flowers at the same time? Here apples flower with tulips, much later than many other bulbs. You could have a succession of blooms from well before to well after the crab does its thing.

I think Crabapples are loveliest with tulips. I would plant a few different ones the first year to observe bloom time and color coordination with the house. I planted the pale yellow and white jonquils under my M. floribunda and not at all happy with the look.

I am looking for a great spring display with bulbs and my crabapple. I have decided on Tulipa vvedenskyi 'Tangerine beauty' as I want something that will be perennial. Thanks for the input!
