Thanks Rick, you are correct about the 3rd and 4th photo, they are the same seedling. Thanks for the compliment, the photo quality could be better.

Dain the 2nd photo is an A. obesum that I believe has Dorset Horn qualities. It might a stretch but it does remind me of those.

Sorry to hear about your yellowing leaves. Are you applying bottom heat to your seedlings? If not what temperature are they kept at? How frequent are you watering them?

Yes, they have bottom heat, but it's on a timer for evening to mornings. At your suggestion a while back a I repotted a few to see if the roots were healthy. I suspected they might be not be draining well enough, but the seedling mix of coir and floor dry actually looked perfect. The roots appeared to be healthy. So, I turned my focus to the probability of burn from the light. I had the light at 15 inches above, but I can't raise it anymore with my current shelf set up. As some of the seedlings still looked sad and stunted, I chose to swap out the panel for a lower wattage one I had sitting around. I'm going to keep any eye on these for the next couple of weeks to see if I can see any major changes.

Dain what you described does sound exactly like they have been severely stunted. The edges of the leaves get crispy and there are no new leaves growing. I have a few of them in the tent that are about to lose their special cozy place under the LEDs.

Thong Tonnam put out a tiny flower for me today! I will get better pictures when it matures.

These seedlings are all trying to bust out of their pots. I will be sacrificing possible blooms by repotting and pruning them today.

Thank you, Martin. the buds are starting to color up, they are still very tiny. I have moved it to the edge of the LED to avoid cooking the blooms. I will post some real photos when it gets closer.

Looks like the net pot Adeniums are busting out! I had to cut one of them off of the root ball because it had grown too large.

Today was D-Day round 2 for the mites. I took more drastic measures and defoliated a huge number of trees as well as pruned before treating them. In the process of which it looks like I have clogged up my kitchen sink so bad that I'm going to have to call a plumber. :(

Pagan thanks for the tip for using styrofoam with my heating mats. I put down a double layer covering the entire tent yesterday. It does seem to be warming back up quicker when I do my twice a day air flush on the tent.

Wow I just looked at all the plants that I cut yesterday and can't help but think I may have gone overboard. I have to remind myself that this will help expedite the extinction of the mite. Giving them a forest to run amuck in only encourages them to stay and reproduce.

Mrs. tall and lanky (black flowers) is getting her hair cut soon. She keeps pushing out flowers to delay me. She is about to fall over from the weight of her own blooms! Also the 7 Heaven seedling blooms are starting to show some color. She's getting a haircut after her flower show.

Hey Tracy! I put in my order to mars hydro yesterday. One 4'9x4'9 tent on its way along with a reflector 192 LED light. I cant wait. Right now I have my stuff rigged funky to try and get my seedlings as much light as possible. Right now I have seedlings all over the house mostly Adenium arabicums, Dorstenia Foetida, and Fockea Edulis.

These are a couple of my fockea edulis the clay pots have the dorstenia's in it. I am getting a few with varigation. I have another tray with a couple more. but Im not going to post them. This also has two Adenium seedlings in net pots sitting on top of the fockea pots. Trying to get as much light to my plants as possible which is hard since I hardly have the set up yet.

These are my PNW arabicum seedlings I am not seeing the same problem with crown rot so much as a did with the black knight seedlings I dont know if its because I drastically changed my watering habits or because it is a different type of arabicum. Either way I can't wait to get them into the grow tent next week.

This is my ez clone aeroponic garden the smaller ones are rcn and the bigger ones are black knights.This will be moved into the tent with the lights as well. Then hopefully I will see some vigorous growth. This is another new addition it is a 7 pod aerogarden. I started 2 singhaburi seeds and 5 plack pearl seedlings in here today. Can't wait to see what it can do. I've seen some awesome results from another user on the forum.

I have seedlings in mass plantings of about 5-7 in 6" round pots all around my house but the time change has my lighting all screwy since until I get my LED light I am depending mostly on natural light and a couple fluorescent grow lights. I still have some more seeds I want to start but I am waiting for the tent to get here. Also I just ordered 60 more singhaburi seeds from adenium center this morning. I like how they are acting as seedlings and adenium center only sent me 10 with my last order. I want to give a bigger batch a try.

I plan on starting adenium obesum varieties that arent arabicum come early spring when I can start them outside ,and I will over winter them next season in my tent. Seeing how big the tent is in your posts tells me I will have room to bring my other arabicums inside to keep them in active growth through out the winter and I will just leave my plumerias and dorstenias in the hoop house.

In spring all my plants will probably be moved outside that are in the tent. I am prop 215 compliant here in California so I have other intentions for the tent in spring until late summer than I will go into overdrive to move all my plants that need to be overwintered inside back into the tent. Also the plants in the aerogarden and clone machine will be moved into an ebb and flow system that I plan on building in my hoop house this spring. I hate winter :( But its about to be early spring/ summer in my tent! I had to share with you Tracy I know you were following my past posts.

Hey Tracy, when you ordered from mars hydro did you have a way to track the package? I was looking through the emails I got from them through paypal and I got the ref number but I tried tracking the package using it in usps tracking ups tracking and fed ex tracking and I wasn't able to pull anything up. Usually I can track through paypal but I couldn't find it for that item. I may have to download their app on my phone and try again. Hopefully they will be here this week. I went out today and bought a PH meter (I have been using the drops for my hydro stuff)the calibrating solutions and storage solution and I got my ratchet hangers. I am trying to keep my PH between 5.5 and 6.0 that is normally what hydro growers balance their ph too 6.5 is a little to high. But in my one system I balance the PH everyday and it is almost a ph of 8.0-9.0 by the next morning. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I was experimenting with "vegan Sauce" a microbial tea. I think the microbes might be eating up all the nutes. I need to look into an EC meter ( I think thats the tool I need.

Bob I don't recall ever getting a tracking number. Basically I received a notice from UPS about 3 days before the delivery and it contained tracking, along with estimated delivery date. Note that Mars uses a fake name in the delivery tracking that changes with each order LOL. This is to ensure privacy for those that are not prop 215 compliant. This is a service that UPS provides if you sign up, it's free. Three days later it was on my doorstep.

This may not look like much but it is my very first Pachypodium Horombense that germinated after three separate attempts. I was just about to give up on this subspecies when I got a surprise after work today.

when I made my mars hydro purchase I made it because of affordability. I have read bad things about their customer service and gambled on never having to deal with them. if I even got six month use out of the light I would be happy. today I received an email from their customer service after putting nearly a 500 dollar order into them. it was a tracking number for my order which shows it is delivering the same day I got the tracking number. Along with a side note that tells me the light I ordered was out of stock and that they will contact me when they get them in and will arrange for its shipment. I replied to the email saying if I had known this I would have went with one of their other options. which now has me in their customer service loop which I have read reports of that going nowhere fast. because of the time change from China I won't get a response on about how long I will have to wait til tomorrow. the email just simply stated they don't have anymore and will contact me when they do. my tent comes today however. I'm extremely frustrated and hopes this doesn't drag out too long. so far I would not be able to recommend mars hydro based on my personal experience. as it stands I spent nearly 500 dollars on just a grow tent :/

So it turns out that clipping all of the leaves off of your seedlings makes it difficult to maintain the temperature since the leaves basically behave as insulation trapping the heat. This is what I learned this week after making the drastic swoop with the scissors and pruning shears.

Bloom update, it is looking like the 7 Heaven seedling is going to be a single pink. I am still excited, looking forward to seeing her bloom. Luckily I switched to KO seed early on in my seed exploration.

Also my Variegated Adenium that I picked up over the summer got a haircut with the rest of them. She is now putting on some blooms of her own. Pictures once she is no longer bare LOL.

Do you keep a fan for circulation in your tent? I would normally with other types of plants but I don't know about Adeniums. I know it's mentioned in the tents instructions I dont know if that is for all lights and types of plants. I have the ratchet hangers, and tomorrow I am going to put together the tent. The light is supose to come either the 25th of Nov., Or it will be send out on Nov. 25th to me. They weren't clear in the email. I read on a forum about a person who sent their light out to one of their authorized repair people and never got it back. That person spent months corresponding with Mars. Their products are good. Nicely priced. I wish I knew it was out of stock. I would have considered paying more for two lights just to not have that extra wait. So far they responded to my email which is good. I was really disappointed getting the email. Now that I'm looking at the tent I'm glad I went with Mars hydro.

Tracy when you order through Ko do you use ebay? I wonder if he sells Arabicums I'll have to check. I've had very good luck with Adenium center and their germination rate. I haven't done any obesums yet but I may try Ko. Have you had good luck with seed to flower as far as different colors?

Yes I have a fan going inside the tent. A 6 inch clip on fan. Make sure you keep the air stream directed down under the lights. You don't want it to interrupt the path of evaporating heat or it will make a mess with condensation. Hope that makes sense. If not I will try to explain better.

i have bought from Ko directly and through eBay. I like direct buying since it is faster and someone always comes in at the last minute of the auction and swoops everything up. I've heard good things about Kos flowers. Haven't seen them bloom yet myself.

I've used them before, they are good for your trees. I don't love how they yuck up the coir. They will be just fine Phil. Don't throw away anything based on some blanket assumption either.

I think Ko's 'Brazilian' Arabicum seeds (available on his website) look nice. I'd consider getting some of these If I had room. I have extra room in my aquarium now, but I worry that if I plant any more seeds when it's time to pot them up, I'll be out of room.

I have some A. Brazilian seedlings of Ko's, this one has a completely red caudex is Brazilian.

Do the worm castings stink? Also do you only need a small amount in say a 10litre bucket or does it not matter?

They aren't extremely potent but after all it is worm poop so it doesn't smell like roses. I would say add a tablespoon or more to small pots, maybe a bit more for larger.

Bob I don't see your post in here, but I saw part of your message in an email notification about assembly of the tent. The bottom tray isn't supposed to fit the plastic pieces. It goes inside the tent after everything else is assembled and just sits inside. Then the corners tie to the plastic cage. Do NOT stretch it, it will tear!

Lol I didn't look at the entire thing when I was putting it together. When I opened the tent I realized the mistake I had made. What a great tent though. I have the plants I want to keep in there but with not nearly enough light. I'm picking up the fan tomorrow and am keeping it open til I can get some airflow. The instructions it came with were different than that online. When I saw the instructions online I took out the tent opened it up and started laughing at my self. I'm sure I'll be moving things around when I get the light so I'm not going to post pictures yet. I love that Brazilian by ko do they all have red vaudex? I going to have to order. I saw he had white lower Arabicums but are out of seeds. I would love to get my hands on a few of those.

Bob I did the same, laughed at myself when I saw the size of the thing. Had to swallow my pride and ask the ex-husband for help putting the fabric piece onto the frame. He laughed at me and rolled his eyes the entire time.

We just got my tent together today. Mine wasn't too bad, but it's smaller than yours, Tracy. Mine is just the 3.3 x3.3. What is a good temperature range for adeniums in the tent? Right now I have all vents open, and it's in a cool room(my crafts studio). It is only running about 68F at the moment. I'm assuming I can close vents and the temps will rise. I also have a heating mat on order that might help.

I keep my thermostats set at 95F. It normally stays around 90F in the tent. You will definitely want to get a thermostat for your heat mat so you don't fry seedlings. Also make sure you have at least 1 inch of space between your mat and your container or tray to allow the heat to disperse. I keep one vent open on the ceiling of the tent to allow hot air/ exhaust to escape. The other holes are all closed. I aerate twice daily for about 10 minutes with a floor fan.

Did you also get some of the ratchet hangers so you can easily adjust the height of the LED?

My husband rigged it with a piece of wood and a rope to raise and lower the light. It seems to work, but isn't as pretty as the ratchets. :) I have a few other plants in there that should enjoy the light.

Karen I have two of the double LED units in my tent and they do produce a decent amount of heat. I also warm the tent using many heat mats. I have 4 of the 20"x10" mats and 2 of the 20"x20" mats running. This is what it takes to apply bottom heat to everyone.

Have fun experimenting over the next several days. When you get things situated make sure to post some pics.

Ah ok, I understand now. I was thinking that only seed germinating required the heat mats. I'll have to order more of them. Right now I have only larger plants in there. I will start the seeds going soon.

The seedlings flower is finally open. This is the 7Heaven I was talking about. Needs a prune and a repot, she is busting out of the bottom!

This thread is getting way too long so I started a new one here.

For Karen - my tent is approx 70cm wide by approx 70cm deep by 160cm tall. I use two 20watt heatmats in the base connected to a thermostat and run it at about 88-90 degrees. Originally it was about 95-98 degree but turned it down a while back and everything is fine and dandy in there. I have 2 Mars lights in it, a double at the bottom and a single up top. Egg crate in the base so that heat does not get trapped by pots sitting on it so the crate create the space needed for the heat to flow and escape. Also I use one fan for air circulation. This is just how I do it, it works pretty good for me. I also have the vent on one side and the roof open very slightly all the time.

A few of my pnws and black pearls skin started turning a redish color once I got the leds on them. I wonder if any will turn out as red as your brazillian.
