Need help with brug pruning

I need help!

it is obvious my brugs need repotting They are already in large pots and the plants are about 6 feet tall.

i overwinter them in an unheated basement and take them out around the 1st of April. I do not water themin the basement. Most lose their leaves although last winter was so mild here in the Seattle area that they kept some leaves.

i want to prune, root prune and repot this year as we can't handle bigger pots. i have read as much info as I can absorb but am still fearful of taking the first cut!

1. When is the best time to prune, root prune and repot?

2. With our weather they don't bloom until mid-August at the earliest so I don't want to delay bloom any longer than possible with the above. Does this mean I want to leave as much height as possible above a V? Or should I cut them back pretty seriously after root pruning?

I love my brugs and don't want to lose them after babying them all these years.

I appreciate any help you may give me to keep these guys healthy!
