If you are talking about Dendrobium kingianum the best fertilizer might be nil till spring. You are heading into Autumn and the general advice for growing them is reduced watering till spring. They are adapted to drought and given warmth and fertilizer in winter they tend to grow keikis.

A mountain of past threads on fertilizer and the General Advice is to use a fertilizer with a higher Nitrogen number in summer and one with a lower Nitrogen at other times. Find a Fertilizer that has trace elements.

Fish Emulsion and Seaweed Extract are also good.

I was not going to use it till it starts growing in the spring just wanted to plan ahead

What type dendrobium? Hard cane or nobiles?

Hi Jane, from previous posts I thought it was Den.kingianum. Which is probably one of the easiest orchids to grow on the planet but sometimes it is difficult to flower.

Dendrobium kingianum and plan to get similar ones , I Read that keeping it cool and dry in winter helps it flower but some strains are harder than others

aminoacid+Seaweed extract+humicacid are also good.

I grow Kingianums in Florida. Full sun, they get watered when it rains. I stop watering (except when it rains)/fertilizing next month. It all depends on where you are.

I'm growing them outside in Florida. I stop watering in November, no fertilizer. They get rained on but grow in full sun. I don't fuss with them at all. They just bloom each year. I fertilize all summer and water. Lots of growths. That's it.
