That's a very good question. Why don't you ask them that.

Not sure how they get donated cuttings these days and distribute them but some have a cocktail of multiple problems - take Ischia black for example.

Some folks grow that particular cultivar and it does seemingly well.

Personally my best tasting fig for years now is my potted Black Madeira's from Ucd and i have grown and tasted many different dark type figs over the years.

I guess I'm wondering if FMV is really not as bad as some websites say it is. So far, besides leaf discoloration I have not read any other negatives. That may be why UCD is ok with it.

If the plant has a bad enough case of it, the plant will be stunted and will eventually die. Who wants to spend all of the time and effort trying to deal with a diseased plant.

I beg to differ with you. None of my trees have FMV, and have never had any sign of the disease, and none of my friends trees have it, so your statement is totally incorrect, and yes, it will kill a tree. I know people who have lost trees to the disease.
