Mold on bark?

These were the best pictures I could take
Is it mold? It looks like mold but I just don't understand why there would be mold; I only water when dry (usually once every 7-8 days) and also the only moldy pieces that I can see are ok the top, not even further down in the potting medium. I noticed it on two orchids that are next to each other, the one next to them doesn't have it yet so I'm not sure if I should separate them now?
