Grew it for a while in my old garden but spread more rapidly than I preferred and with a relatively short season of interest so I eventually removed it. Needs very well draining soil (like most bulbs) and full sun and prefers to remain dry in summer.

Grew well in Zone 5, Ontario, in amended alkaline clay. I lost it eventually when it was elbowed out by other plants, but someone with a slightly raised bed had it for years and years around here.

I grew in containers for the first time last year.. foliage came up, but no blooms.

I have grown it for quite a while in alkaline conditions, on a slope, in part shade. It requires no care whatsoever, blooms quite early and is very drought tolerant. The leaves disappear completely by mid summer, so mark the location well, or you will forget and attempt to plant something else in what appears to be a "vacant" spot.
