...hope for two strains?

Has anyone received any bulb orders yet? I got my small order from Living Gardens (very nice bulbs) but nothing else yet. White Flower Farm always takes their sweet time and of course Royal Colors will most likely be late. I did pick up a Red Pearl at a local nursery so I guess most of the bulbs are in. No buds yet though, I'm seriously bud deprived, I can't wait to see the first one poking up, I don't care what it is!!

I got a couple bulbs on E-bay, one is Exotic Star which is currently sending up two scapes. I'm waiting on Royal Colors.

I did purchase a few bulbs locally, but they're just the typical AB or unlabeled "Pink" and "Striped", who knows what those will turn out to be. One of the ABs has a bud poking through.

Does anyone know if "Amputo" on ETGB is correct? I remember in the past I have ordered it a few times and I don't think it ever turned out to be correct? It may have been 'Jewel', but I'm not sure.

Josh, By the way I tried to answer your latest email trough Houzz and the message was truncated (don't you just love that word!!) just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you... I don't know what the problem was.

Ray, good luck with these rains!!! Have you been to Maas's, Buchanan's, or Joshua's? They usually have some nice fat bulbs in the Heights..(B's over J's). I am hobbling around after knee surgery and trying not to buy too much this year as...I've spent my allowance for a while. I did get a single bulb (H. Honeybee) that is sending up a scape. RC order should ship soon and I went for expedited method. Will post when I get that order. Hope we don't get any real cold for a while!! I won't be moving bulbs for a few weeks!!

I went to the Heights this week but only to Another Place in Time. It was to late to make Buchanan's. They had no bulbs at all. Said that the shipping was late. I will have to wait for RC and WFF to deliver.

Nothing much at Maas so far (6 common average size) Enchanted Forest in Booth, 4 mi east of 59 near Richmond has had the best I think. The owner Betty was a main supplier for the Houston Amaryllis Society. I just checked and they said they have ~26 varieties.

I will have to check out Enchanted Forest..

So... when WFF notified me that they wouldn't be sending my Sweet Lilian due to the seller sending the wrong bulb, or whatever that meant, I went back to the Agway where I got my Red Pearl and picked up 2 Sweet Lilians and 1 Cherry Nymph. The Sweet Lilians had two bulbs that had scapes poking up and I just had to buy both of them. Pretty bad, I really only wanted one but I just couldn't stop myself at the sight of some potential buds!! So it appears that the first ones to bloom for me this season will be Sweet Lilian unless their bulbs came from the same supplier as WFFs and there is a major mislabel (again....).☺☺☺Donna

Went to Enchanted Forest Nursery today and they do have a nice selection of amaryllis. Much more than in the box stores. Had to buy some to justify the trip. Gervase, Charisma, Terra Cotta Star, Exotic Star, Full House and Showmaster came home with me. The bulbs are very large and look good.

Maida, I love Gervase. Sadly, I think I lost all three of my bulbs. I loved the variance in the blooms.

Good job Ray! Those beauties will provide ample justification for the drive.

After looking at the stock photos, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed 'Terra Cotta Star' last season. For me, that variety is much more attractive than its photos.

Both of my Sweet Lilian bulbs are opening but I'm not as pleased as I was two years ago. I think the colors are lighter in this year but when more flowers open I'll snap some pictures.

Yes Ray, like a true bulb addict how could you possibly come home without buying something!! ☺☺☺
