siding

What kind of wood is used on the siding? It looks like cedar that has weathered grey, but how did the trim get so even coloured in contrast with the vertical siding? It is such a beautiful effect!

The siding is random widths of reclaimed barnwood. The species are mixed (white oak, red oak, maple, etc). There is no finish on the barnwood, that is called "as-is gray."

The trim and fascia is new rough sawn cedar with a solid body stain.

You will want to put a coat of stain or paint on the South and West sides every 3 years while the North and East side can go a little longer depending on the exposure.
