You can certainly try that method but most find that cannas
tend to grow tall and spindly unless additional grow-lights are used to
supplement the short day length. This of course may vary depending on the
cultivar you are growing. If the trial does not work to suit you, you can
simply remove the foliage and leave the container in a dark cool location.
