Under lights in Florida? The UV is managed here with various amounts of Shading in Shade-Cloth. SM might know the appropriate amounts to use. In summer with low humidity and "Arizona Sky", Cattleyas need all day sun shining through 80% Shade Cloth.

That is for Latitude 33S.

Arthur, ooops. no wonder I couldn't find my post....yes, under lights in Florida. I have so much shade in my small back yard. I don't have anyway near all day sun. Or for that mater, any sun most of the time. I'll look into growing other orchids that require less sunlight.

Phalaenopsis hybrids are probably your best bet. Those large leaves say low light and too much sun will burn. I have them in this room and they get filtered sun in the winter. Nil sun from the Equinox. If I put them out for summer in a glass-house the shade rating would be about 80% down near the floor.

Thank you for still answering my post, considering I'm on the gallery side of things. I do have some Phals but wanted to explore with Catts, I should probably stick with the Phals.
