Egress window?

The transom window appears to be fixed and also too small for egress. If this is a basement bedroom is it then in a corner of the house and hence another wall to the right where the blue curtains are that has another larger window for egress? Where we are in NC we cannot count the room as bedroom in MLS nor legally build a closet without an egress window that allow for escape in case of fire. Can you please tell me how you dealt with this issue? Thanks!

Try something like this. Just read the code carefully and discuss with vendor.

There is likely a full sized window to the right. We use transoms for additional lighting all the time in bedrooms in tandem with other full sized window. You an see a house through the transom windows. These windows in this application provide an additional measure of privacy, as well as light.
