I think there are several places in New England where you can score refurbished claw foot tubs but if you live anywhere else, their weight would make shipping cost prohibitive. This is the sort of thing you need to find locally, I'm
afraid. Keep scouring Craigs List and Freecycle and the Habitat ReStore, and be patient. If you find one in so-so condition, grab it; they can be restored pretty easily (my Mom once found a claw foot and resurfaced it... not sure what that took but she's not a pro and it turned out great. Just mentioning that because someone will know and be willing to do this work for you, I'd think at a reasonable price). Good luck!

My house came with the original clawfoot tub, cast in 1909. (It's stamped on the bottom.) I've had it refinished twice. About $500, if I remember correctly. Check your local salvage yard. If you can find one cheap enough, it might be cost effective.

Be advised that after refinishing, you cannot use abrasive cleaners. The faucets for these puppies are not cheap. And if you plan to use it as a shower as well, the riser and round shower curtain rods are also expensive. Be aware that the tub is not the only expense.
