Hey did you self pollinate the flowers that formed those pods your self? That is a beautiful plant, do you know if it is grafted onto an Arabicum body? I am rather new to adeniums, only have a few juvys and some seedlings right now myself. Nothing as impressive as yours though. what color flower does it make?

Hi Gill!!! I was thinking the same thing... "BBB". Lol. I'll cover them again since I moved it closer to the house. We are expecting low temps this weekend, but it will be alright for a few more weeks. Like last year, once I bring them inside with the pods, they seem to open pretty fast !!!

Hi Bob !!

This tree isn't grafted and it's just a simple pink flowered tree that I found many years ago at a local box store it was quite small back then. I have been lifting for years exposing it and taking care of it. To some it's just a simple pink, but it's more than that to me!! This was my first and she has gifted me with such an interesting Caudex. I really love her!!

sometimes we find treasures in the normal pink blooming bin" ;-)

these blooms were pollinated by nature... I did successfully start hand pollinating my Plumeria by cross pollination as well as self pollination techniques. I happy to say I have seedpods on my plumeria from that experiment!!

Yes it is an amazing looking caudex! all mine are still very young. I love plumerias as well I just got 3 from a local home depot. it was one of those lucky moments when I found them. It isn't usual for them to be sold in my area. I hope you get some interesting plants from the crossing.

Laura, I love her too. You take such good care of her and show her off for all of us to enjoy. Which we do every time.

You are lucky to find Plumeria in your local store.. I hear all of my friends in California, Florida talking about the shipments from Jungle Jacks and just turn green with envy.. Living here on the East coast far north of Florida means we don't ever see any of those gems In Our local nurseries!! Have fun with your new babies ! :-)

Thank you for the kind compliments on my tree.. You are so kind.. My Buddha had beautiful pods and I was excited to see them form. Unfortunately, I didn't like the way one died off and the other opened and the seeds didn't look vital to me. So, I didn't want to send out any seeds that were not IMO quality..

My apologies to everyone about attempting to try and share. I did manage to send out some seeds from my purple adenium and I'm glad that they are doing well .

I don't use anything on the skin of my trees ., this coloration is all natural and I did just water my tree before I took this picture. That will be the cause of the shine in the picture.

My Buddha is an Adenium Obesum and is about 15-18 years old.

well it's a beautiful specimen. it's unfortunate the seeds didn't look vial. we're you able to try sowing some anyway to see if anything happened or did they look really bad? hopefully you will get some Buddha belly babies next time! I can't wait til I can say I have an 18 year old adenium! I'll keep everyone posted... :)

I did try and see if the seeds were viable by using the paper towel method to germinate. My seeds were supposed to be placed in a warm area for germination as I left for work ( airline industry...). When I came home, my hubby moved them into another room and I thought they wouldn't have germinated anyway. I was wrong, they did sprout and then they dried out since I was away. They were probably alright to sow, but I ended up giving a few to local friends to experiment and I was worried about giving them out here just in case they were not healthy .. I would not feel good about sending out questionable seeds.. This tree usually develops pods every season, so I'm sure I will have more next season as well as from other trees...

You can imagine the look on my face and on my DH face when I realized what he had done.. The extra seeds were in an envelope near my trees.. ( they are gone too.. Ugh. I think he cleaned up around his computer and accidentally threw them away.) I couldn't get to crazy on him. But I'm sure he could tell I was disappointed /frantic?.. ;-(

This was my very first Adenum and I sure do love this guy... Now he is with about fifty others.. ;-)
