More commonly known as Ox beetles. It may be a subspecies, or a different species, than the one you suggest. Does S. antaeus occur in your area?

I'm in Jamaica and it was the first time that I ever saw this Rhino Beetle.

In my blog, I featured both the male (https://suzandtell.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/its-a-rhinoceros-beetle/) and female (https://suzandtell.wordpress.com/2015/12/17/photos-female-rhino-beetle/) rhinoceros beetles. I live in West Rural St. Andrew.

There may be other rhinoceros beetles around but I have not been actively looking around for them.
