It all depends on what you want. Century Farm Orchards sells 4 varieties that do well here, and they sell bare root only. Just Fruits & Exotics sells a much wider variety, but sell only potted trees. Both sell on line and sell quality trees.

The cheapest way is to ask the owners if you can have a few cuttings. You also get a tree that will 100% grow in your area as well. Fig cuttings are very easy to root.

Home depot / lowes / ace /etc should carry fig trees in your area. Local nurseries would also carry them as well. If you want to order online you can get anything: potted, bareroot, or just an unrooted cutting.

Your local nursery should have some, i recommend Chicago hardy for there...

Unless it is very large, very cold hardy variety and you got it cheap, leave it in a pot till spring.
