Please help with Bulb identification

In helping my sister clean out her flower bed this summer... we found a couple of bulbs.
Not knowing what they were, we replanted them. Today she found this bloom and we still don't know what it is. You all are so good with identifying plants... Any idea what it is. It's only about 2" tall and smells like a rose. Thank you so much.

Hyacinths. They will grow much more than 2 inches, more like 8, or at least they should. But an odd time of year for them to flower unless you are in the Antipodes?

Thank you so much, Floral. We live in Michigan and the weather here has been crazy with fluctuating temps. I was confused because hyacinths never bloom here in the fall. Guess they got confused also! Guess we better plant them deeper after they bloom.
