Trouble how? What are they filled with? Any chance of a picture?

my question is with the height of the beds, will the beds warm up enough to plant in early spring. i have filled the beds 22 inches high with compost. i am going to a layer of leaves down and then put more compost on top.

They will certainly warm up and dry out sooner than the surrounding soil. Pure compost can be tough to grow in unless it has absolutely broken down so as to be nearly completely mineralized. Adding regular garden soil along with the leaves to what you have may be a good idea.

thanks for the tip. I will try them. the compost is from a pile I have been letting sit for about 5 years. it looks pure black with nothing sticking out of it.
