whitney is a very nice variety, and yes I have been growing Whitney for a couple of years. Some of the others around GW have too.

How color stable is the variegation for you? I've seen vendors pictures, but you know how that goes. Does the new growth display the variegation or revert back to just the striped form?...........Maryl

Here's a couple of pics. They start off light green and just get darker and darker. The old leaves are almost black. But they do keep the variegation.

Thank you for the picture and information. I'm over loaded with Sans, but this one caught my eye because of it's more compact size and leaf pattern. If I see it around I may just add one to my collection...........Maryl

Maryl, I just noticed, you are in Okla. I was born and grew up in Guthrie. Haven't lived there in many years though.

I moved here many many decades ago from California. I wouldn't move back if you paid me. I'm an Okie now for sure. What section of the country did you move to?.........Maryl

We're in north Ga, have been here forever, it seems. We really love it here. We also lived in Texas and Florida for a few years. It was fun growing plants in Florida. They stayed outside all year.

I also have one. I have found mine has gotten darker but not lost the variegation. They are a nice mid sized Sansevieria. I think you will like it.

Sans: So are you saying yours looks more like Barbmocks then the Hirts Greenhouse picture? Barb's looks pretty dark to me, but could be the lighting in the picture.....Stush: I grow Gold Flame already. So far nice plant without reversion. The only Sans I've ever had trouble keeping is Golden Hahnii. I've got about 4 or more pots of it now and hope I do better this time around. Asahi does look nice. Thanks for bringing it up....Barb: My niece lived in Georgia for years and loved it. She's now back in Texas (her home state) but still misses Ga..........Silly question I hope someone can answer for me. What is a "Futura"? Is it a designation for a medium growing Sans. Trifasciata? I see the word tossed around a lot and wondered if it's an official series designation?.................Maryl

I wanted to show my Whitney but for some reason, I can't find it. Older leaves do turn dark for any bodies plant with age. Hirt's is well grown in a green house. Mine did so this summer and looked good but with winter inside coming up, will get darker. And you answered your own question. The Sansevieria trifasciata is broken down to size groups. Hahnii (small), Futura (small-Med), Compacta (Med.) and full which is just trifasciata (to 50 inches).
