Drop Leaf Dining Table: Recommendations

We are replacing our too large dining table with a drop-leaf table because it will save us some room, day to day, and could be more functional in even smaller homes than we currently have (like a condo). We are looking for a sturdy round one with leaves and center pedestal. I love this particular image of a possible design concept. Ideally, we'd like to pull up to the table with wing back chairs we want to sit in, lounge in and possible not do the bench idea. We could possibly find ready made bench for that space as we don't want to define that space for future homeowners of this house. Plus generally booth sitting is not that comfy without backs and needing for someone else to move in and out for you. We have windows on all sides. Any suggestions would be appreciated for table sources as well as design for a small dining space. We would rather not hunt for an antique one in our area. We are retirees so this space is for us, except when we host family gatherings and friends. Thank you!

There are lots of drop leaf tables as well as gate legs which could be another choice on Houzz Shop. To get a Duncan Phyfe style, you may be able to find second hand on Craig's list for example. If you live in Canada, try Kijiji as I've seen lots for sale. In regards to seating, a settee is a good choice for comfort and when you move, it's also a flexible piece for a living room or bedroom. Add odd chairs for an interesting look.

Keep in mind that your knees can't go where the drop leaf is, which make eating at such a table uncomfortable. A round table with a leaf that can go in the middle is more practice & comfortable. If you have an alcove with windows on 3 sides, plan to have chairs that back towards the corners of the space to save room and making it easier to get in and out. You don't say how many people you wish to entertain at this table.

I would like to sit 6-8 at the table when leaves are added. 4 daily. Would much prefer a round table with a leaf in the middle. Trying to get a visual of your suggestion--to have chairs that back towards the corners of the space.
