I have wood cabinets and a wood floor. I often receive compliments on how light and bright my kitchen is. Some things that help: Paint baseboards and window and door casings white. Remove the wood valance cabinet piece that is across the window if you have one. Consider glass panels in some of the doors if they have a panel that can be removed. Use light countertop and backsplash surfaces. Install stainless or white appliances. Oil rubbed bronze hardware looks nice on these cabinets. Look into under cabinet lighting. If there seems to be too much wood, consider losing some of the upper cabinets. You can replace with a small amount of open shelving or not.
