We are thinking of painting cabinets white. Keeping floor. New countertop and backsplash. Thoughts??

Agree with prior comment. Change out the countertops to something lighter. It will really brighten things up!

I'd replace the floor; countertops and add a backsplash. The cabinets look in great shape and modern. Also, consider a rounded side to your island to bring something other than that boxy look.

Consider brighter lighting, possibly some spot on to the cabinets as well as overall lighting.

What do u mean by "spot on"?

Here's what I'd do: 1) If my budget is smaller or I'm planning to move within 5 years, then I would replace countertops and add a lighter backsplash. Or 2) if this is a home I'm going to be for a long time, I'd paint the cabinets white (use a professional to paint; keep the style of them), add lighter marble or granite, and a new backsplash. I'd also add medium brown toned hardwoods. But, this is my personal preference and would only consider this if I knew I'd get a return on my investment. Don't overspend for your neighborhood or price point. :) hope this helps!

Mike, I mean a spotlight. Some of the 3-6 bulb Track Lighting for Kitchen could be focused individually to throw some lights on to the cabinet doors and also the island. It will make them look brighter and possibly do enough that you will not have to paint them to brighten up the room. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Along with the above suggestions, I would put the mixer and counter oven away unless you use them daily. Then I'd put the fruit in a two tiered stand on the island and replace the stools with backless ones for visual expansion. I agrre the cabinets look very nice.
