Potted plants in winter?

last modified: 10 years ago

I grow many of my heucheras in pots and usually just leave them sitting out wherever they are in the yard for winter.... these are plastic, terra cotta or foam pots and the plants always are fine in Spring. This summer I bought some small glazed pots that I am thinking will not do well if left out and stay wet

in our freeze thaw freeze thaw winter here in north Mississippi. With my hostas that I used these for I will bring under covered patio and water very sparingly... probably once or twice....all winter. They are completely dormant and they and the pots will be fine.

So, at last to my question. Will this work with heucheras to be so dry in winter? Are they completely dormant also?

I didn't even think about this when I planted them in the summer.

Thanks for any info...
