Hi Splinter, thank you for your answer, but I am not looking for the spanish moss version but I am looking for the smallest plants in the Tillandsia species, where I can get different small plants in one spot and not one large hanging plant. I really love the Tillandsia Usneoides but I do not have the space for that one.

mini me looks like my plants but that one is not to be found in the Netherlands... but will look further, as it is live plants they can't be send overseas or customs will get a hold on them already had a shipment confiscated...

try the ionanthas, a 2square ft. area can be occupied by more or less 10 ionanthas. :) and you can try the guatemalan form because they are much smaller than the normal ones.

i have three ionantha mexicos (the small version) and they can actually fit comfortably in a shot glass.

Aside from ionantha, shops commonly sell t. fuchsii, that one is small too.
I have many small tillandsia species, but I bought them all from specialised e-shops. Some tips for ones that aren't extra rare: Tillandsia loliacea, humilis v. simplex, latifolia f. minima, edithae (small form), mittlaensis, schatzlii, balsasensis, mollis, retorta, crocata (small form).
Don't buy t. aizoides or bryoides and t. arequitae. They are hard to grow inside rooms. Btw ... these are 6 months old seedlings of t. bryoides. Real size 2 milimeters:

I have some small, almost ball-shaped ionanthas; they may be druids (I used to be sloppy about labeling things; I'll have to wait to see what comes when they bloom again). This recent summer I invested in some T. neglecta, and they are quite small but full of character. Ball moss (recurvata?) is small but can act rather like Spanish moss, clumping and getting larger. I also have what I think is a mini aeranthos, or maybe better described at http://www.rainforestflora.com/store/tillandsia/A20020/aeranthos-Miniata/ However, like ball moss and many others, individually the plants are small but they may grow fast and clump together. But in the world of Tillandsias, "grow fast" is at best leisurely, sometimes in the order of years, so you may have more to choose from than you realize :) .
