Thank you. This is pretty sad for me. If someone from around Tulsa can successfully store dahlias outside, I would love to hear from you. Our garage is heated, and a room in the house. Our shed is not heated, and may freeze. It may be our only option if there is nothing else I can do.

Sammy, I would store them in shredded paper, inside one of your coolers, in the shed. You don't use your coolers much in the winter anyway... .

I agree with Moni. I think the odds are good that they might make it through the winter in the shed in a cooler. Just make sure they are good and dry when you put them in the shredded paper in the cooler. Too much moisture in the tubers would lead to rot while in storage.

Down here, I tend to just leave my dahlia tubers in the ground, but I'm a lot further south and we don't get nearly as cold as y'all do most winters.

Dawn, do you think plenty of mulch, with a bag or more on top would let Sammy keep them in the ground?

I have nowhere to store the bulbs so instead of me digging them up I simply harvest the seed and plant them again the next year.
