Just responded to a post about using artificial plants as decor in a house. My opinion is that neither product looks like the real thing and has drawbacks, of the two, I'd pick the vinyl, softer and less clicking than laminate. Engineered wood is only a step up from laminate and can be nailed in to avoid the hard noisy issue of laminate...and has a real wood layer as opposed to a printed paper under plastic.

I concur with Ironwood. If you elect to lay the floor yourself, make sure you follow the manufacturers directions with respect to adhesives but try to use the lowest VOC adhesives possible as floor glues can be particularly noxious.
