Still getting rain in Grove and we have had close to 3 inches. May be treading water, but all is well otherwise.

2" since Sunday in Owasso. About 1 1/2 " last night.

A bit over 4" here. This has made the winter rye cover crop we planted last week come popping out of the ground. Nothing left in the garden but a few fall planted greens and turnips and one batch of banana peppers.

The rain was really late to arrive here, long after we'd watched hours of tornadoes skipping across parts of TX, OK and KS. We got about 1.5" based on looking at the depth of the big standing puddles, because the strong winds blew over the rain gauges so they were lying on their sides empty when I went out in the early morning to check them.

How strange was it to see tornado watches in some areas butting right up against blizzard warnings?

I have a feeling El Nino is going to keep the weather interesting for the next few months. We've already had the weather throw everything but the kitchen sink at us this year.

Love County already has had its' highest rainfall year ever, and there's a month and a half left so we're likely to get even more. We also had drought after floods and heavy rainfall. It makes you wonder what's next.

We got about 1 1/2" here. I am not sure that's all we got because the rain was coming down sideways. Ha

i hope everybody in western oklahoma is okay. It was a wild night for you guys.

Dawn, I agree this going to be a strange year. We have tornado warnings, wind advisories,hail warnings and blizzard warnings all in the same state on the same day and sometimes in the same county. Welcome to the southern plains.

Looking at a hard freeze Sunday morning. Guess I will have a lot of annuals to clean up Thanksgiving weekend. I hope this wind finds somewhere else to go. I don't want to deal with strong winds all winter. The summer winds were very quiet loved it.

as far as El Niño I guess we will just have to wait and see.

One year we didn't have our first hard freeze until a day or two before Thanksgiving. I was excited because my entire family was coming here and I thought I'd still have beautiful flowers in bloom on Thanksgiving. Nope. They all froze. My aunt looked at the recently-frozen flowers and said, "I can tell by how big and thick they are that they must have been beautiful." Only a gardener like her likely would notice stuff like that. I really hated that the flowers didn't quite make it to Thanksgiving after coming so close to living that long.

The wind in the forecast for Saturday is worrisome. Strong winds and dry vegetation are a bad combination.

Based on what is going on in the Pacific Northwest this week (and in various parts of the world that are having El Nino-related disasters already), I'd say El Nino is here and it is going to be trouble. But, at least we'll have rain this winter. Or, if it gets cold enough, some of that frozen stuff that wreaks havoc wherever it falls.
