Do you fertilize when planting seeds outside?

Do you fertilize when direct seeding outside? If you do, what NPK do you use?

I'm about to plant Sweet Peas outside and always struggle when planting seeds of any kind and any time of year, to remember if I should fertilize when I'm planting. It certainly makes it easier to do it now rather than try and remember to do it in a few weeks.

I don't fertilize upon sowing seed, but peas should be planted with rhizobia inoculant, unless that location is repeatedly used for legumes.

The Sweet Peas I'm planting are the flower type. I just read that edible peas benefit from the inoculant but do flowering ones as well? I've always had beautiful flowering sweet peas. Thanks for your tip about the edible peas, I have some in a 6 pack waiting to be planted.
