Is anyone else going dormant?

Plants I mean! Mine seem just the same as they were during summer. No leaves are browning or dropping yet and it certainly isn't that warm here and the days are short too especially on a day like today when it's hammering it down with rain, again. This year has been the best so far for mine, the one that budded (for the third time) dropped the flower before if opened sadly. It grew into a colourful 1.5 Inch long bud and then sat there and withered away, guess it was just too late in the season. The other flower clusters didn't get to the size of that first one but they also failed. Fingers crossed for next year. They just look so interesting even without flowers as the caudexes are so chunky and unique so I am more than pleased with them and that's what counts!

The two plants from Brian, the Mr Ko 'Miracle x 45' and 'Dang Siri' still have those yellow/brown leaves I spoke of earlier but have strong and hard caudexes, so hopefully next year when I get some different feeds they will be as good looking as my others!

Hi Gill! Only two here--these regularly go dormant. The rest are still up. Some are even in bud.

Hello Pagan, yes my Dang Siri still has a few buds left to go. Also, I was wondering after reading Rick's recent thread regarding snipping leaves off should I do this with these two plants as they look a right royal mess at the moment. I take it that some of your plants don't always go dormant then?

The majority of mine are still in leaf, although some have dropped leaves. Others that I thought where going dormant where not, they had those pesky mites. They will be dormant most likely now.

I don't imagine it would hurt the plants you speak of Gill by snipping the leaves. They may not grow anything back until the spring, but then they will be sitting until then anyway.

Hi Gill!!

Mine are all inside now for the winter and are starting to drop their leaves, but this has been an unusual warm fall. I have never had my trees outside this long, usually they are all inside by Halloween. ( just brought them all inside a week ago)

Sounds like you have had a great season and that is so pleasing.!!
