Of course you can, the two plants will come apart easily when you repot, but if you are a new grower there is no urgency. Also, winter is near in Northern Parts of the world and depending on the climate where you live, spring may be a better time.

I'm actually Southern Hemisphere- Peru- and we are just getting into our spring/summer season.
Highs in the low 80s- lows in the upper 60s.
Winters are also mild- lows in the high 50s and highs in the low 70s. Sunlight from 7am-6pm about year round

What are these Temperature figures? Yesterday it was 35.7C and the humidity was about 20% Horrible! And Outside was a Phalaenopsis death zone. Temperature too high. Humidity too low and the blazing sun would frizzle delicate Phalaenopsis leaves.

Your only problem with a Phalaenopsis is probably getting the shading right for your climate.

Recommended temperature range is about 20 to 30C. Moderate Humidity levels and shade appropriate to your latitude so those large leaves do not burn.

When you separate them, soak the whole pot for 15-20 minutes first; this will soften up the roots and loosen the media, making things easier to gently untangle and pry apart with minimal damage.

Even though they're both fitting in that pot now, you will probably need another pot just a bit smaller or even the same size. Below are two orchids that were in the same pot two months ago (the pink one). Now they are both firmly rooted in their own pots, with a lot of new root growth. Good luck!
