They are just old and will fall off...

Or...new leaves are typically lighter and will darken with age, if part of the plant is exposed to more light/sun, the leaves will lighten in the more light exposed areas, it could also just be genetics. They don't look unhealthy, dying, or lacking in nutrients to me.

Thanks. I've had this Carnosa for years and it never bloomed. Over the summer I took some cuttings and put them in a vase of water and got a bloom! Go figure. :-)

Monica, that IS most interesting!!! I find carnosa takes forEVER to bloom. Yet it bloomed for you fast in water...Maybe it's one of those that would like to be grown in hydroton, so I must try it... Thank you for posting this observation!!
