After posting the above I have learned that Sant Anna tile was evicted from their studio in Lisbon after being there for 100 years. The landlord wants to build a hotel on property. Guess that's why no one was responding. Bad timing for me :(. They have been making tile since 1741 and the minute i need some they're gone. Just my luck. No idea if they are planning on restarting somewhere else.

What a sad story! I truly sympathize with you and with the historic tile company. Love those blue and white tiles.

I am also having trouble finding the field tiles to complete my backsplash problem. Should you decide to go a different route, I’d be glad to purchase what you have in the field tile. Hoping that you fond them-but just in case.

Hi Pete. i found blank Sant Anna field tiles on eBay that were a very close background match. Using A special low fired temperature paint, and using an airbrush and stencils I pretty closely duplicated what I needed. Not perfect but close enough an unaware observer would notice. I was very fortunate to run across the blank tiles but one never knows. the seller was surprised to find a buyer and was close to disposing of them. Also found 4 original floral tiles that matched my window trim tiles I incorporated above the stove. You can see the background color difference but it’s not as obvious in person. i deliberately incorporated some overspray and corner pattern variety as per the originals. The low fired paint is very durable though we don’t scrub it hard just in case. It’s fired in a regular home oven. Search eBay for Sant Anna. Also I did eventually hear back from Sant Anna. They said they could provide the tile pattern but could not guarantee the backgroun color or texture would match. I did not follow up as by that time I had completed my project. But evidently they are still around somewhere in

Lisbon.
