I was checking up on my orchid today, when I noticed something odd going on with an aerial root it's had for a long time.

As you can see, it appears that the root is splitting?

This is the first orchid I've had, and I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to these things, so this may be something entirely normal that I just have managed to not yet stumble across, but could someone explain this for me? Thanks in advance!
